Super Hair Removal (SHR)

Super Hair Removal (SHR) is a hair removal technique that uses advanced technology to achieve long-lasting hair reduction. It is often considered a more comfortable and efficient alternative to traditional methods like waxing, shaving, or plucking.

SHR works by utilizing a specific type of laser or intense pulsed light (IPL) technology that emits a broad spectrum of light energy. The light energy is absorbed by the pigment (melanin) in the hair follicles, damaging them while minimizing damage to the surrounding skin.

Here are the key steps involved in the SHR process:

  1. Consultation: Before undergoing SHR treatment, you typically have a consultation with a trained professional who will assess your skin and hair type to determine if you are a suitable candidate for the procedure. They will also explain the treatment process and address any concerns you may have.

  2. Preparation: On the day of the treatment, the targeted area is prepared by cleaning it and sometimes trimming the hair to a specific length, depending on the device being used.

  3. Application of Gel: A cooling gel is usually applied to the skin to protect it and enhance the effectiveness of the treatment. This gel also helps to minimize discomfort and protect the skin's surface.

  4. Energy Delivery: The SHR device emits a series of rapid pulses of light energy onto the skin. Unlike traditional hair removal methods that deliver high energy in a single pulse, SHR uses a gradual heating method that applies multiple low-energy pulses over a longer period. This approach gently heats the hair follicles and gradually destroys them.

  5. Cooling System: During the treatment, SHR devices incorporate cooling mechanisms, such as contact cooling or a chilled sapphire tip, to provide additional comfort and protect the surrounding skin from excessive heat.

The specific settings and parameters of the SHR device are typically adjusted based on individual factors such as skin type, hair colour, and thickness. The procedure may cause a mild sensation of warmth or a snapping feeling, but it is generally well-tolerated by most individuals.

Over a series of treatment sessions, typically spaced a few weeks apart, SHR aims to target the actively growing hair follicles and gradually reduce hair growth in the treated area. Multiple sessions are necessary because hair follicles go through different growth stages, and the treatment is most effective when the hair is in the active growth phase.

It's important to note that while SHR can provide long-term hair reduction, it may not guarantee complete permanent hair removal. Results can vary depending on individual factors and may require occasional maintenance sessions to manage any regrowth.
