My First Impressions

My personal journey with toupees began 4 years ago when I was a customer of another business. They put a very thick hair piece on me that has a very full and fake hairline. They did not have qualified hair cutters. It looked fake, big, too thick and the glue used to leak out the sides.

I loved wearing it though and learnt how to do a better job.

As it turns out I loved the boost in confidence and loved it so much that I bought the business and completely changed the processes to make it much much better for guys.

I turned a business around that was based around hiding men in dingy rooms. I put them into professional and classy salon chairs and now use product that are far superior.

Not only have the process and products changed but the location and experience has changed. We offer a full grooming service for men. The landscape for Self care is changing and men are much more interested in looking good.

Personally Trialed & Tested

One thing that I wanted to do was to make them last longer. The previous business owner advised clients they last 3 month. This is because they were not hair professionals and use cheap products with big markups.

We use only professional De Lorenzo hair care products. They are an ethical business and are Australian owned, made and they are vegan products. What this means is that they are not only quality products but they are made from the climate in Australia. They have UV protectants in the products and nutrients that allow the hair to be nourished and protected against the harsh weather conditions.

I now have some clients that get 10 months out of a hair piece. I am not saying that they will last this long but you should get 4-5 months if you look after them with professional products and be kind to them.

Pros and Cons

The most annoying thing about hair pieces is the cost. If you don't look after them, you will burn through them and it is expensive. But if you invest a little in the right hair care then they do last and look good for much longer.

Other businesses will not tell you this as they want you to wear the out. But we pride ourselves on being an ethical business and truly want to help people feel good with their bodies. We take pride in this and love to see people succeed in their lives.

The pro list is long so I will stick to a few points. Changing perception of Self is the most important. Toupee wearers find a freedom from the grief and judgements associated with ageing and balding. Yes, I agree, we should all accept ourselves regardless and that is why I don't advocate hiding people away in dingy private rooms. We love our bald clients with or without hair. I personally just feel better and happier with the toupee on my head.

In saying that the guilt and shame have gone completely so I can sit in the open in front of others with no hair and not feel embarrassed. This is all part of the journey to Self acceptance and we are here to encourage that! We are here to support building confidence ad loving your bald head. There is no shame in balding and getting to that place and feeling confident is the biggest pro.
